About
Biography
As a young child, I immigrated to Ontario. My father established the first plaster mold casting foundry in Toronto, Pattern Matchplate Ltd., during our first year in Canada. Interestingly, this foundry was located on McCaul Street, facing the current Art Gallery of Ontario. This enterprise has played a significant role in shaping much of my life.
I attended York University, where I studied Fine Arts and the History of Art. Subsequently, I transitioned into a career in education, serving as a secondary school visual arts department head, curriculum leader, and administrator. Throughout this time, I have continued to pursue work in sculpture and some painting.
Although my focus may shift frequently, I have recently resumed working and reflecting on those images that persist in my mind. Some projects I began over ten years ago have finally reached resolution, while others continue to develop and evolve. I currently reside near Orangeville, where I have established my studio.

Artist Statement
I aim to maintain a balanced approach in my work, as I believe it is a state often lacking in the world. Striving for equilibrium provides a sense of fulfillment, though I acknowledge that creating tension can be an important part of the process. I tend to explore ideas thoroughly until they are fully developed, after which I do not typically revisit them—once completed, they are left behind.
In restoring and rehabilitating damaged or imperfect materials, I seek to highlight their fractures and find beauty within their ruins. My goal is to re-balance these elements, guiding the work toward a harmonious state of equilibrium.
This approach reflects the core principles of resilience and aligns with the philosophy of wabi-sabi—embracing the flaws and imperfections inherent in the human experience.
Additionally, I find satisfaction in combining materials that do not naturally integrate. Recent work has focused on exploring these contrived relationships and the unique dialogue they create.
